Constructive Geometries

By analyzing Cope and Stewardson’s Quadrangle arcade at the University of Pennsylvania, built on 1895, I found connections and relationships between ellipses and circles and the basic techniques of building. I then systematically recalibrated my geometric-analysis of historical precedents in building construction as a device for the generation of a new, site-specific, space-covering structure. I envisioned a public-engaging space for Clark Park’s Farmer’s Market in Philadelphia.
