I am the house

I am the house is an extending structure that joins two people by a shared vessel. The vessel discusses the geometry of bodies in relation to each other and the architecture of personal relationships. By materializing relationship dynamics through the movement of water, the project focuses on discussing unspoken practices that if left unaddressed can become heavy towards one’s side. This project continues my interest in the body, architecture and how geometries can extend the body towards a function.

By wearing, inhabiting and materializing a relationship in a speculative world, I question the extension of oneself towards another. By becoming a shared inhabitable space, two can share an emotional, physical or environmental structure and become interdependent. Having pressure of water be divided, makes it less powerful – it can no longer drown one – but, having two people be interdependent allows them to drown each other. I am the house reflects relationship dynamics and the process of self-growth. If one stands too fast, there is a shift in balance and water levels, which provokes a change in structure and creates a loss towards the person in the opposite side.
